Villeneuve
This past weekend was a special weekend in France where museums and monuments are free of charge. So on Sunday my Host Mom took me across the Rhone from Avignon to visit Villeneuve. We went to see La Chartreuse (a monestary) and Fort Saint-André(a fortress-abbey). It was beautiful and I really liked it. However, I forgot my camera, so no pictures. Sorry. I'll just have to go again! ;P (Of course, it won't be free next time.) La Chartreuse has gardens, a prison, several chapels, a wash-house, and rooms for the monks/priests. It was really cool to see everything. Well, after we saw the Fort Saint-André we walked down the hill to a bistro where Mme's friends were waiting to chat for a while. On the way down, we passed a woman with two kids. Mme told me that that was the Minister of Economics, Christine Lagarde. here's a link for a picture. So that was a cool experience. It was sort of like passing Obama in the street or something. Except French-style.

You went to a monestary and a fortress-abbey and forgot your camera?! Watch out, Grrr, you are turning into your mother!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.... Well, forgetting the camera is bad. And I don't want to necessarily BE you, but 'turning into your mother'; is that a bad thing if she's a good person (most of the time ;P When she's not annoying. Well, I suppose good people can be annoying. ;P)
ReplyDeleteShame on you for forgetting your camera! Sometimes though, its better to enjoy the sights with those 'Eyeball Mark I' cameras :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are enjoying yourself; bravo!
Oncle Scot :)
It's true: for example, I went to the Light Show at Le Palais Des Papes and pretty much all I did was take pictures and video clips. The second time I went, I didn't take my camera and just watched. It was much cooler the second time around, which is hard to believe because even through Camera's Eye View, it was Brilliant!
